· No fur · 100% certified wool · 100% certified down · No harmful PFCs since 2019 · RVRC GP Pro & Nordwand Pants with recycled polyester (2021)
The choice of materials for products has a major influence on the social and environmental impact of the industry. We are committed to increasing the sustainability of our material choices. When we make choices, we always balance the material’s durability and its other sustainability-related features.
For our animal-based fibers, wool and down, the material suppliers must live up to our animal rights policy. We only buy certified wool and down. That means that no painful animal practices have taken place.
To safeguard product safety, we take the potential health and environmental hazards of the chemicals in our products very seriously. In 2019, to protect our customers, co-workers, and the environment, we decided to refrain completely from using PFCs (Perfluorinated Compounds). PFCs are a group of chemicals often used in outerwear for durable water and dirt repellency. They are highly effective for this purpose. However, research has documented their persistence in the environment and their harmful effects. As a highly effective alternative, we use the Bionic-Finish. Eco treatment, a proprietary fluorine-free technology from the Rudolf Group.
Together with two of our most trusted partners, we have remade two of our bestselling pants in recycled fabric.
After many tests and even more trials, we think we have developed recycled fabrics that are as good as the current RVRC GP Pro and Nordwand fabrics. In June 2021 we pre-launched three colors. We are very excited to see the customer response.
